At Home in Ecuador
July 15, 2019
The past several months have seen some drastic changes in the King household. We sold our house, our vehicles, and put our stuff in storage and headed to Ecuador to live next to our daughter Jennifer and her family. Pretty drastic, huh?
My desk is now set up and (as of yesterday) we have Internet that works. Therefore, I am writing again. However, I am taking my time with this story. You might be able to imagine the hours I’m chewing on the little details as Darcy and Elizabeth plot their course. The secondary arc to this story involves the ever-wonderful Colonel Fitzwilliam. Sigh!

Darcy — a master of illusion!
I like it
J "Joy" Dawn King
Thanks so much, Rose.
Patricia Edmisson
Thank you for another chapter. Elizabeth has quickly changed her tune when she can see the man behind the illusion he puts forth.

I’m so pleased you liked it, Patricia. She still has doubts but …how can you not at least like a man who knows what to do with a baby?
Anji
That was adorable! Darcy’s interaction with the baby just makes your heart melt. It certainly seemed to improve Elizabeth’s opinion of him.
I’m glad your move worked out OK, Joy. Have fun with Jenneifer and family!

Thanks so much, Anji. We are so happy here. As far as Darcy and the baby, how could it not melt her heart?

Oh Joy, I am so happy for you and your family being together. I am sure the decision was not made lightly and must have been difficult. Then, again, it may be what you have been longing to do for some time. Regardless, you will be surrounded by absolute love.
As for absolute love, I do think young James, will be the one helping to shatter all the illusions around Mr. Darcy. Thank you, for sharing this heartbreaking but hopeful chapter.
Give my love to Jennifer and let her know I am looking forward to her next book as well!

I appreciate your sentiments, Carole. We are simply delighted to be back in Ecuador. That baby will be a real motivator when it comes to adults making changes to their personalities.
Jennifer’s latest is up for pre-order right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VJKXSYX/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Jennifer+Joy&qid=1563896700&s=digital-text&sr=1-1
Glynis
What a huge change! I hope you will be happy there although I expect the proximity to Jennifer and her family will ensure that!
I’m loving this story and Elizabeth’s reactions to Darcy. I can’t wait for him to tell her the truth about Wickham as her ignorance puts her at risk I think.
I so look forward to reading it all.
J "Joy" Dawn King
We are very happy, Glynis. Thank you. Elizabeth is very much at risk from Wickham. He’s a slippery snake who wants everyone but him to face the consequences for his own decisions. Ugh! I can’t wait to write him right out of the story. Soon!

Oh, I love it when D&E get together early in the story and then they can fight the evil machinations of the Fitzwilliam family together. Oh, this is so touching. I nearly teared up then Darcy took the baby. Man, that was a good scene. I love this story. Congratulations on the successful move to Ecuador. I’m sure your daughter was thrilled to have you next door. Blessings on all your new ventures and best wishes to you all. Happy writing.

By the time they are at Pemberley for a bit they will both have their boxing gloves on. Fortunately, the fight won’t be between them. Their emotions and battered hearts will heal pretty quickly in the story. They need to be together for this foe.
Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how many times we have sat over coffee to discuss storylines, marketing, and new ideas. It’s AWESOME!!! Thanks so much for your comment, Jeanne.
Amanda Domangue Ackman
I own all of your books. I can not wait to buy this one
J "Joy" Dawn King
Thank you very much, Amanda. I am writing as fast as I can.
Amalia E
Please, please, continue. I love the tenderness of ODC in this one, and I cannot wait to read more.
J "Joy" Dawn King
Amalia, I am writing and will do so until it is finished. Thank you for reading.
Beatrice
I read this when it was first posted & have just reread it. Am now chomping at the bit for more. When will it be up for pre-order? Such a terrific story!
J "Joy" Dawn King
I am very happy you are enjoying this story, Beatrice. This one is taking a while as I am being careful and thorough with the characters. I don’t have an end date yet. However, it is now the only tale I am working on.
Cheryl Kepler
Absolutely, heart-wrenching WOW!!!
J "Joy" Dawn King
Cheryl, I felt the same as I wrote this. Thanks for reading.
Melanie Rachel
This is sooo promising. I can’t wait to read the rest of it, Joy! I would wager that the real obstacle for Elizabeth now will be trust, since the man she grew up thinking of as her staunchest ally basically sold her to a man he believed she hated. This Mr. Bennet really is dreadful.
J "Joy" Dawn King
He is dreadful, Melanie. You are entirely correct that Elizabeth has trust issues. Unfortunately, she doesn’t realize how deep-seated they are until much later. They come together within the next four chapters, which I’ve written. While they are formidable, so are their obstacles. Fortunately, we all know it ends well. Thanks for reading and commenting.
