Hello from Oregon!

It has been far too long since I posted on my website. In fact, it’s been so long that I am seriously thinking about closing it down. Why? Because I forget I even have it available, I fail to promote the site on social media, and I seriously lack time. Shame on me!

Life has gotten crazy, hasn’t it? Between COVID-19 and protests, our world changed quickly. On top of this I fractured my femur down by my knee. It’s not nearly as painful as it sounds but sitting with my legs at an angle is not comfortable. Therefore, my ability to get writing done is minimal.

However, I will tell you that the story I am working on has been on my mind since before I wrote and published my first story, A Father’s Sins. I am almost 10,000 words in and love it so far. I plan it to be a full-length J Dawn King story. I have a few ideas I am kicking around for a Christie Capps short story but can’t write them either because of my leg. Frustrating!

I do have some great news. I found a journal online at Michael’s that I think you would love. It’s an 18 month reading planner that starts on July 1, 2020. There is also a “bookish” sticker pack and a sticker book that’s included. If you think you could use this to track your reading, please leave a comment below. I will do a random drawing from those who respond on June 20, 2020.

In the meantime, please take care and stay safe!

Great to hear from you, Joy. So very sorry to hear about your injury. Hope it heals quickly for you. Good luck with your two books…I look forward to reading them.

Thank you, Sheila. I am not posting them yet on Fan Fiction because I am writing slowly. I am trying to heal as quickly as possible. Take care and stay safe!

Oh Dawn! First I thought you moved to Ecuador and second I, too, am sorry to hear you broke your leg! I think 2020 is going to go down as one of the most stressful years in a long a time. Everyone will remember this year and not for good things either! Definitely looking forward to your next book. Don’t add me to list of entries as I know how expensive it is to ship to Canada. Just glad to hear from you and may your recovery be swift.

It is so good to hear from you. I hope your leg is healing. The world is crazy. The cover on this reading diary is gorgeous. I am so looking forward to reading your new book. I know I will love it. Have you tried using dragon and dictating your stories?

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

Thank you for stopping by, Debbie. I love this cover especially since one of the books is Pride & Prejudice. I have dragon software and used it when I broke my arm a few years ago. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. My personality was crazed because I couldn’t edit as I spoke. With two other people living here (John and my Mom) it isn’t quiet enough. Thanks for the suggestion. It’s great to hear from you too.

Don’t have time to plan my reading, as I sometimes go through 3 books a day, but the planner looks lovely. Sorry to hear about your poor leg and the trouble it iss giving you in your writing. What about using “talk to text” application to compose initially and then edit afterwards? Or are you a writer whose thoughts travel only direct form brain to writing instrument? I know some people cannot compose without pen (or keyboard) in hand. Best of luck with the new story. I love your books (by both of your alter egos!)

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

Cheryl, I used to read exactly like you. However, my brain is going too many directions now to truly sit down and savor a good story. I am exactly as you suggest. I need to have a pen or keyboard. I appreciate your understanding very much.

Oooh! A possibility of two new books in the pipeline? Wonderful! I’m so sorry about your leg and do hope it soon heals then you can get serious about writing 🙂
No seriously hope it’s soon better.
As you know I love your books by both names and reread them regularly, but please don’t include me in the giveaway as I’m in the U.K. and postage isn’t cheap!!!!! 🙁
Get better soon and take care

Dear Dawn. So sorry to read of your accident, but glad to hear your recovery while being a bit of a nuisance has not been too painful. I have all of your books on my kindle listed under a collection titled JAFF FAVOURITES. A Father’s Sins has been reread a few times and I always felt a sequel must be rattling about in your fertile imagination. Glad to hear I was right, and look forward to seeing it. A journal of reading would definitely be a big plus for me, but as I am a UK reader I think the postage would be a bit too hefty, so give my name a miss when you draw. I absolutely love A Baby For Mr Darcy. The Colonel is my favourite Jane Austen character, I am a bit of an introvert, so a jolly extrovert would suit me very well. However I do have my own Mr Darcy another rather introverted guy, so social distancing is really no problem for us. I will be quite sorry when isolation is over and I am forced to return to matters beyond my ever faithful kindle. A dedicated JAFF READER.

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

Awwwww! That is so kind, Lois. Thank you. My husband and I are both extroverts so this stay-at-home is a challenge. However, both of us appreciate obedience so we are contented. Thank you for taking time to comment. I will gladly enter you in the drawing.

Me too, Courtney. I’ve never used Happy Planner before. I was too late to get the sticker pack that went with this journal but have tried to find it elsewhere. It would be the perfect companion. Alas, no success. Hopefully, whoever wins the journal can find the Bookish set of stickers. Best wishes to you!

Joy, so sorry about your accident. Bless your heart. I use the Happy Planner and when I saw this cover… I had to have it. It is beautiful and makes me smile every single time I look at it. You are so generous and I just wanted everyone to know how beautiful it is. Great choice. I had put a comment about this planner, with a link to Michael’s, on the GoodReads promotion discussion groups back when I first found it. I am so glad to see you found it too. Great minds… you know? Blessings on your writing and we are so glad to have you back on our shores. So sorry about your husband and his altitude issues. I know Jennifer was sorry to see you guys move back. Be well, stay safe, and healthy.

I am positively delighted to hear from you. Thanks so much. I’m thrilled you already have the journal. Do you have the stickers that go with it? They are called “Bookish”. I just found them online. Happy Planner restocked. It’s joyous that you are using this exact journal. Yay! All the best to you and yours.

      • J. W. Garrett

Stickers??? No, I did not know about them. I will have to look for them. Thanks for letting me know. Blessings!!

        • J "Joy" Dawn King

I posted a picture of them above, Jeanne. I ordered them to include with the giveaway. There are three plastic envelopes I bought as well to add organization. I think this will be a fun project for a reader.

          • J. W. Garrett

Oh, they are adorable. Thanks for the picture. Woohoo! What a giveaway to some lucky person. Good luck to all in the drawing. This was an amazing choice for Happy Planner to choose for their new planner along with those awesome stickers. Aren’t they sweet? I love it. Want to know a secret? When I get my new planner next year… I may just take this cover off and use it again. I mean… really!!! LOL!!

So sorry to hear about the leg and unable to write like you want to.

Loving the idea of you writing again. Thanks for opportunity to win planner.

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

I am so excited because Happy Planner restocked the Bookish sticker book that goes with the planner and all the other goodies. I just ordered them. I hope they will be here soon to send them out to whomever wins the journal. It’s an adorable setup. Thanks for commenting!
