I’m Visiting Janet Taylor’s Blog This Week and I need HELP!!!

A few days after I published my first book, A Father’s Sins, I was contacted by Janet Taylor from More Agreeably Engaged blog because I had won a copy of Jack Caldwell’s latest release. When I mentioned that I had recently published my debut novel, she invited me for an interview. Thus began a wonderful friendship. That one blog post opened up a whole new world to me. For the first time I started to realize how large the Jane Austen community is. Wow!

Janet invited me back this week to talk about my newest release, The Abominable Mr. Darcy. However, I decided to use my visit to ask for help with a short story I wrote last year. You see, I have a dilemma. In the story, entitled “Forgotten!”, Mr. Darcy temporarily loses his memory and wonders why he named his first son and heir, Richard Darcy. His family had a tradition of naming the firstborn after the maiden name of the mother, therefore his son should have been Bennet Darcy. It was suggested that Mr. Darcy’s action was a result of a lost wager with his cousin. I’m perplexed to know what this wager might have been.

Would you please take a look at the story and think of something consistent with the characters of the two men so I can write the next and final chapter, closing the book on this story? Please? You can find the post at:

I will take into consideration your suggestions and those offered in the comments at the bottom of Janet’s post and will put my second and final chapter here next Monday. Oh, and you might want to know that the giveaway mentioned at More Agreeably Engaged applies here as well. All it takes is your studied opinion expressed in a comment.

By the way, premier editor, Christina Boyd, kindly pointed out that the situation with Lydia (in Forgotten!) is as clear as mud (my words, not hers). While Wickham served his country in France, Lydia ran off with an officer. No children – thank heavens!!! I mean, could you imagine that girl being  wholly responsible for young ones? In my wildest dreams I could not.

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance. See you on Monday!
