Crazy World of Publishing!

I have great news and some not-so-great news. First, my latest J Dawn King story, Friends and Enemies, is available for pre-order and will release this coming Monday, June 5th. Yay! The print book is in the review stage and should be available by this weekend.  Here is the link if you want to check it out: Friends and Enemies

Now, for the not-so-good news. Jennifer Joy and I had the month of June filled with scheduled writing/publishing/release dates. However, I finished before she did. Therefore, instead of her releasing the final book in her Meryton Mystery series at the first of June and me releasing Friends and Enemies at the end, we swapped. Jennifer’s story should be launched prior to the end of June. Sigh! I was so looking forward to seeing how Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth reached their happily-ever-after, who gets murdered, and who dun it. Drat! Now, like everyone else, I have to wait.

I hate waiting. So, even though my latest is at Amazon, I’m still waiting for the file review of the print edition. Then I need to wait until my proof can be reviewed. Then I need to wait for it to publish. I’m still waiting for the audio file review of For Pemberley, my latest Christie Capps audiobook and then I will need to wait another two weeks for it to be available in the marketplaces. And, as mentioned, I’m waiting for Jennifer to finish the last few chapters, then I wait for editing and proofreading, and then for the formatting and publishing. (Deep sigh, again!) Wait! Wait! Wait!

Do you hate to wait?

WhooHoo! Congratulations! Guess what I will be pre-ordering!!!! Life at the moment is in a hectic spin. I’m off to my sister’s in the States on Thursday and returning Monday. I have my niece’s shower in Buffalo on Sunday. Then I have a wedding shower to prepare for on Father’s Day no less…only day available for the Bride but she doesn’t know that…her husband-to-be gave us the date!

As for waiting, I hate it! Come June 5th our son has a final interview meet/greet with a VP before he/we actually knows/definitively that he has the job! His whole department got laid off the day after Easter and he has been so close so many times with being ‘the one’ chosen! Frustrating for him and us! Here’s hoping! Monday can’t come soon enough for all of us!

I will be looking forward to Jennifer’s final book in the Meryton Murder series at the end of June!!!!

You are a busy woman, Carole, and a kindred spirit, as Anne of Green Gables would say.

Oh, dear. I hope things go well for your son on Monday and forever after. Yes, it is stressful, especially when it’s our children.

Just WAIT Joy, it will be here before you know it! Ha Ha!

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

Ha Ha! That was good, Fawn. Yes, the minutes do have a way of passing, don’t they?

Oh, I am also going over to pre-order this book. Yes, I would hate to wait for something so important. But I am reminded to not wish your life away in wanting things to happen immediately. Good luck but the release and every thing else, Joy.

Thank you so much, Sheila. You are right about not wishing our life away. Hours are precious and should not be wasted. I tried to rationalize about not “wasting” an hour at the gym this afternoon, but one look in the mirror had me putting on my tennis shoes and going. Now, an hour reading a book? Hmmmm! Totally justifiable.

And I see that it is also available with a Kindle Unlimited subscription.

It is. As a reader I adore KU. So all my books are in the program right now.

Friends and Enemies is fantastic, Joy and I’m in the middle of Mr. Darcy’s Bad Day (a lengthy beta read cropped up just as I’d started it) so I’m looking forward to reading the rest of it. Loving it so far!

I’m also looking forward, a lot, to Jennifer’s new Meryton Mystery.

In the end, it doesn’t matter which way round the books come from the two of you, as long as they keep coming!

    • J "Joy" Dawn King

You are so kind, Anji. Thank you. Jennifer, the brat, keeps giving me little hints when we FaceTime and then she shuts up and keeps it all to herself. She grins and tells me, “just wait, Mom.” Ack!!! Bad girl!!!

Congratulations Joy, on the publish on yet another lovely book! I read it while you worked on it on Beyond Austen, and I was spellbound! I can’t wait to read it again soon!

Thank you so much. I’m very pleased you read this already. I hope you like the polished final story.
